Zeolites are synthetic porous aluminosilicate materials. Due to the uniform distribution of pores, they are also known as molecular sieves. Silkem's most important product in this programme is zeolite 4A.

Activated zeolites
Activated zeolites are molecular sieves, which Silkem manufactures and sells under the ASORBIO® brand. They encompass several types of Asorbio® ZAP zeolite activated powder and ASORBIO® ZAG zeolite activated granulate.

Silicates
Sodium water glass in liquid form is a silicate material, which is dissolved in alkaline sodium solutions. It has the same characteristics as glass, but at the same time, due to its high alkalinity, it is soluble in water and can be mixed in all ratios.

Sodium perborates
Sodium perborates serve as a source of active oxygen. It is inorganic peroxide, odorless, water-soluble chemical compound prepared in a form of MONOHYDRATE (NaBO3·H2O) or TETRAHYDRATE (NaBO3·4H2O).
Belinka Perkemija produces both forms of sodium perborate. Sodium perborate is a white, free-flowing, crystalline powder that dissolves readily in water and produces an alkaline solution with oxidative properties.

DIFFERENCES between Monohydrate and Tetrahydrate regarding application and performance:
- The essential difference between both Sodium Perborates is in the AVOX (free active oxygen):
- Monohydrate has AVOX minimum 15 % and is used for low temperature wash, but on contrary Tetrahydrate has AVOX minimum 10 % only.
- The monohydrated form has further on higher heat stability and a higher dissolution rate into water.
Hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide H2O2 is an environmentally friendly chemical, used for oxidation reactions. Decomposing to only oxygen and water, hydrogen peroxide is one of the cleanest chemicals available.
Its use is based on the working of active oxygen that is released upon the reaction of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide which oxidizes organic and inorganic compounds. Hydrogen peroxide is a slightly acidic, clear and colorless liquid, which is mixed with water in all proportions. The market products are stabilized aqueous solutions of the concentrations up to 60 w/w % of hydrogen peroxide.

About Silkem
Silkem was founded in 1992 on the basis of 40 years of experience in the production of aluminum hydrates and other types of alumina in Kidrichevo, Slovenia. Following the closure of production in the red section of the old alumina refinery, successful adaptations and an innovative approach allowed the launch of two main production programs: zeolites with silicates and special alumina.
Environmental requirements have made it possible to quickly use synthetic zeolites in the manufacture of detergents. To adapt to new production methods (dry mixing) in the mid-1990s, Silkem also started by producing zeolites and silicates in granular form with additional detergent components.
In 2015, production facilities and in-house developments made it possible to launch a boehmite production program.
